Question Broken fairing/speaker brackets on '09 models??

I'm seeing on this and other forums that there's an ongoing problem with broken fairing and speaker brackets on the touring bikes. I'm just wondering if this problem was fixed in the '09's. Maybe that was one of the 400+ "improvements" that the MOCO claims to have made this year.

Thanks for any info.

John

Same pn# for the brackets so the brackets haven't changed. Maybe a smoother ride with the improvements might help to not break the brackets, but the brackets themselves were not improved.

I think the 09's will have less problems with this. My 05 and 06 batwings shook around a lot at idle, especially when the engine was cold. The 09 has a lot less vibration than my earlier bikes. The brackets are the same through the years but the breakage is not consistent. I never broke a bracket in 80 plus thousand mile of riding my 05 and 06 but other friends have broken them including one friend that's had them replaced 3 times in 40,000 miles. The vibration is definitely different in the 09's, much less a problem.

I'm going to keep my fingers crossed on this one. Hopefully the new motor mounts have quelled the vibes enough to prevent the brackets breaking. Didn't have a problem on my '07, but maybe I was just lucky on that one.

My right speaker bracket is broken at the upper mounting point. Called the dealer and take it in tomorrow for replacement. Only have 7k on it.
