I suggest not removing the foam padding as it will hold too much. It comes with a rain cover.

Monkyman,I have been trying to decide between the Horseshoe bag & the large Saddleman bag. The Saddleman will hold more but as you said that will give the wife a chance to overload. Do you think the Horseshoe will fit the airwing rack ok?
There sure are a lot of great bags listed but I guess I don't have as much money as some of you. I went to a local sporting goods store and found a nice athletic bag for about $50. I put it on the rack and secure it with a cargo net. Ridden with it up there for thousands of miles with no problems.
