I had it on my 05 and never used it, I have it on the 09 and it arms itself.

Just remember when your in that 7-11 and someone hops on your bike to steal it, if you run out there the bike will start once you get close enough!

Well worth the cost. It's a cheap piece of insurance when you consider the cost of replacing your bike. Speaking of insurance, some companies will charge you a lower premium if your bike has an alarm. As far as battery draining...that sounds like a bogus claim to me. I've had it on both my Ultra's and never drained my battery once. Sometimes I've gone two weeks without as much as starting the bike, then I go out to the garage and she cranks right back up. The discharge rate is very very low when using an alarm. The key fob shouldn't be an issue since it's always attached to the key anyway. Wherever your key is....there you also will find the fob.

Had it on my 07. Did not get it on my 09. I use a disk lock on this one. Unless you set a pin on the alarm the factory default disable code is known by everyone that has an alarm. Most don't take the time to set a pin. If they want your bike they are going to get it no matter what alarm you have. What does it take to pull your seat and cut the batt. wire 2 min? With a disk lock at least they will not be able to just push it away after they cut the wires. What ever gives you peace of mind is what you need to get. Trust your gut feeling.

I've got the security on both of my 09s. It's been cold here for a couple of weeks, got on this morning and fired right up. I'm having the audible features installed in a couple of weeks. I also think that they have backup batteries in them so even if the batter wires are cut they still work. I also went in and set up my own PIN so the default isn't there anymore. I know it's not a 100% solution but I like it and it makes me feel more comfortable.

Here on this tiny island I have never watched anyone use a key on thier Harley, coming from an import you had to have a key in to use it. Then I learned about the FOB and thats why you don't see keys being used.

Hard to leave your keys at home if you have a FOB, for most it's not a problem but here most do not lock the bike down at night, easy to get on and drive away without a key if you don't use a FOB.

The complaints are they drain down the battery pretty fast and folks get a little tired of trying to keep up with their FOB. I liked the security of my 02, but this one sounds like a little more hassle. Can I add it later if I decide against it? Can I take it off if I don't like it?

Thanks

I bought my 08 EG in July without security. I just had it added last week along with a siren. So yes it is possible and pretty painless to add it later but the dealer does have to flash the bike to know about the security. I like the security and do not regret adding it.

I got a small break on my insurance premium because of the security system on mine.
