you definitely want to change the PIN code. don't waste your money on the pager - i never remember to bring mine with me. ain't gonna drain the battery unless something's wrong with your electrical system.

Have security on both with siren. No issues with battery drain. Had security on Road King with Siren, no battery drain. Discount on insurance for security with siren.

With a disk lock at least they will not be able to just push it away after they cut the wires. What ever gives you peace of mind is what you need to get. Trust your gut feeling.
if your dealer is worth anything, he should go over the alarm with you and have you change the code before delivery. also, where do you get your stats? most don't set the pin? i only have anecdotal evidence, but everyone i know with an 07 or newer changed theirs....

with the added siren with battery back up, if they pull the seat it and cut the wires it will go off.

the disk lock gives you a false sense of security. plus, you leave yourself open. do you put the lock on everytime you stop? even if its just a gas stop or a bathroom stop? the hd security is enabled every time. even if you do use it all the time all a thief has to do is to pull a trailer up next to the bike, get a couple of guys to pick it up, then set/drop it on the trailer. yours will go quietly into the cold dark night, while mine will protest it all the way. same end result though, bike gone.

like you said, if they want it, they are going to get it. but at least with the security, if it doesn't stop the professional, it can at least prevent the 'casual' thief from stealing it. plus, i'll take the insurance discount anytime. i like keeping as much of my money as i can.

The factory PIN was changed by the dealer at setup on mine and then changed by me when I took delivery of the bike.

I would like to see you pull the seat on a ultra without setting off the alarm, and to also do it in two minutes.

The seat strap screw requires removing the left hard bag to get to it and the seat screw is a real pain to get to unless you got a real long screwdriver. And all that time the bike will be screaming at you. and it will keep screaming at you after you cut the wires because the Alarm siren has it's own battery., but then you could also pull the right side hardbag and the cover and then yank out the siren after unscrewing the ECM.

Plus, if you forget to disarm your alarm, the bike makes noise, if you forget to remove the disc lock, the bike makes a different noise as it and you hit the ground.

Personally, I wouldn't want anything that I could avoid on these over-teched bikes that could fail and disable them. I had an '03 RK that stranded me when the security module failed and disabled it. The only reason it had security is because I bought late in the season and the bike was on the floor and the only one available and it already had it. If a thief really wants your bike, he and his scumbag buddies will throw it in a trailer and drive away with it anyway.

The alarm from Harley will indeed stop somebody from riding it off as the ignision and the fuel pump circuits are dead with it enableed. As far as some on rolling it in to trailer that could be a worry but they would do it with the alarm screaming at them. I just lock the forks when out of sight in an unknown area. I also picked up a disk lock this winter with an alarm that is all stainless. http://www.xenasecurity.com/product/...s/alarm/page1/
IF they are going to put mine in a truck with two alarms wailing at them I am going to make them carry it!!

I just bought a 2009 FLHX with security. Initially I did not want it. Then I got to thiking it might not be such a bad idea since you do not need a key to start the touring bikes and I really don't want to have to lock the ignition every time I gas up and go in to pay or grab a soda. I'd hate to gas up go to pay and have someone jump on my bike and take off while inside. Many times when riding we wil stop for lunch. With the Security system I can just go in and eat without having to lock the ignition.

spend some money on a dam good theft insurance policy with a low deductible and forget any more electronic alarm toys to add to your bike. If theives want your bike, they can throw a thick sound deadening blanket over it, pick it up and put it in their van and drive off is less only a couple of minutes. That is what insurance is for.

I believe a simple pocket knife would take care of the seat strap issue. If not then the wire cutters surely would one Phillips screw and seat is off. People that want your bike are not worried about scratches and replaceable things they are criminals that will do what ever it takes to steal your stuff. If you have invested in a batt. backup that should help. I use the HD disk lock with the orange cord that goes to my grips it would be hard to not see and forget. You boys don't need to get your panties in a wad. I am not dissing your hi tech alarms. All that I am saying is that if a thief wants your bike they will get it sooner or later no matter what you do. Alarms and locks just keep an honest man honest. OH and skratch I got my facts from the people I ride with most had not set there pins but now have. No need to get hostile bro. If a thief wants your bike they will get it sooner or later. They might just want the motor or some other part of it not just all of it. They don.t care what they have to do to get it and chop it up for parts. A good insurance policy is the best thing you can do. All of the rest is just preventative measures.
