And all that time the bike will be screaming at you. and it will keep screaming at you after you cut the wires because the Alarm siren has it's own battery., but then you could also pull the right side hardbag and the cover and then yank out the siren after unscrewing the ECM.
I think you're forgetting that the seat strap (if your bike has them. I didn't think any bike with the grab rails or a Tour Pak had straps) is very easily cut with a knife or pair of scissors. A thief isn't going to go through all the trouble you just described!

Speaking of, do the newer bikes with security include audible alarms now? I thought that was still an upgrade option.

raptor, not getting hostile, if you took it that way, sorry, wasn't meant to be. was just curious because as i mentioned, everyone i knew had changed theirs....

i totally agree with you, if a thief wants your bike, its gonna be theirs. however, i don't want to make it so easy that anyone can be that thief. i have the security, and i personally like it. it wasn't that expensive to start with, gives me a discount on my insurance, and i don't have to worry about locking the scoot everytime i get gas or a drink.

remember, most thieves are like electricity. they take the path of least resistance. if a bike is parked next to mine without the security, chances are my bike will still be there and that one won't.

if you wanted security, you could have added it. no need to buy a whole new bike for it

i believe it is still an upgrade option. not sure on the 09s, but the radio shack alarm option works really well. can't beat it for 12 bucks. true it does not have battery backup, but it'll do in the meantime.
