Default Debating the Security

As I'm searching for a new SG, some of them don't have the security. Guys I talk to that don't have security don't seem to miss it and the ones that do have it wouldn't be without it.

The complaints are they drain down the battery pretty fast and folks get a little tired of trying to keep up with their FOB. I liked the security of my 02, but this one sounds like a little more hassle. Can I add it later if I decide against it? Can I take it off if I don't like it?

Thanks

Beary

You can definitely add it later, and if I'm not mistaken it's a dealer added accessory for all of the touring models anyway.

I wouldn't be without it. It's great to know that if someone messes with the bike all hell will break loose and that the ignition is disabled whenever the system activates. Keeping up with the fob is no trouble at all - it's a part of my keychain and that goes with me anyway. If the fob should get lost or lose it's battery charge, you can disable the system through a turn signal/ignition sequence until you get home or to a dealer.

I've never heard of or experienced the battery drain that you refer to. I have left my bike at a friends house for a week and the bike cranked right up. I wonder where that concern came from - I'm not at all familiar with problems like that.

It's such a valuable option that it's easy to justify the cost. Highly recommended!

I would recomend it, as far as the Fob beeing an issue, to me it's no different than a house or car key. As Pastor John, said it's on my key chain as well.

Congrats on the new SG.

If your getting a good deal on the bike I wouldn't not buy it cause of
sec. Like other's said you can always add it later.
Do you live in the city and leave it out alot. Maybe you don't even
really need it.

I also wouldn't want to be without mine and I also have the added siren and pager. It's not going to keep someone from stealing your bike if they really want it, but t's just more peace of mind that it's at least someone protected.

I wouldn't waste the money on the security system. By the way where do you live, I'd like to come and see the new ride when you get it.

I wouldn't have one without it. It's nice that it arms and disarms automatically.

I like the security on my '08 even better than the '05 I had. If I found a bike that I could get a good deal on without security, I wouldn't let that break the deal. But I would be adding it real soon.

I certainly don't need it for when the bike is in my garage, but it is very nice when you are out and about or on a long trip away from home.

I enjoy my security system. Its not going to stop the professional thief of course, but it will get in the way of the anyone else. I like it because I do not have to do anything to protect the bike if I want to run into a 7-11 or whatever for a couple minutes.

I have never experience the battery drain either. There has to be some battery drain of course, but if your bike is sitting for that period of time it probably should have been on a battery tender anyway.
