Left side went on easy. Right was a disaster, scratched the chrome surface which looked like crap. Ended up putting on the black switch covers with chrome housing. Actually looks pretty good
This forum is great, purchased the Chrome Switch Caps a couple of weeks ago and was debating if this is something I wanted to try or have the dealer handle it. After reading several messages, reading the Service Manual, Parts Manual and the useless instructions that come with the parts, I thought what heck.
Spent several hours installing my the chrome caps, chrome levers and grips. I used the So-Cal sun to heat up the plastic which made installation not as demading as I thought it would be.
I'm extremely happy with the job and feel the chrome accent against the black is sharp. I would recommend testing switch operation prior to buttoning things up.

Sorry, I couldn't add a photo of the work.
Same here. Chrome switches with black housing. Looks really nice especially after adding the chrome screws on the housing too. I had to step away from it a couple times to refresh.
I also ordered the aftermarket chrome rocker switches for the inner fairing. I believe that will be a much easier install.
No one has asked in three years--so much for inquiring minds.
A Street Glide is an FLHX; so, when I added the SG rear fender facia/LED about three years ago, and already had the long chrome tank console and fairing mounted mirrors, for fun I decided to describe my bike as an FLHTPX.
Better write the patent office before mother harley gets ahold of this thread
Very good info here regarding the chrome switch housing install. I like the black housing with chrome switch look, however I'm going to go the other way. I want to install the chrome housings and leave the black colored stock switches in place. Maybe it won't be as hard as actually replacing the black switches with the chrome ones.
