Default Considering a Road King Classic

Looking for all the "bad" stuff rather then the good. Ive heard of a wobble for instance ... I would really like an honest opinion related to fit and finish, ride and performance, maintenance, price paid etc etc.

Tks

I guess you should say new or used. If new, the 2009 is pretty nice. I like mine. Used - depends on the bike. Price is usually whatever they can get you to pay. It's not exactly a flea market. Bad stuff? Go read about the Yamahas. I don't know any about the RK.

No complaints, no wobble. Only thing to mention is you might change out bars right away. But IMO bars are never "one size fits all". They work for some and not for others.

I've had it since Sept 08 and its becoming more personal every day. Yes I'm becoming quite attached.

Sorry Road Basta ... cant pull that Harley is the best thing since sliced bread thing with me.

Check my post, I currently ride a Yamaha 1300 T. Owned it for 1 1/2 years - over 23k on it. It did have a problem with the clutch pack that was immediately fixed. No trouble since then.

I owned an 06 Sportster where it was mandatory that a stage one had to be done due to the carb farts. The speedo sensor went at 16k ....

point is .. that is exactly what Im looking for ... common issues that EVERY manufacturer and mostly every model have. The mandatory stage one and the clutch pack are great examples.

Here, Im particularly interested in the 08/09 Road King Classic common issues.

tks

I've heard of people experiencing "wobbles," but I never have. Slammed it through the Dragon, the Cherohala, and curved onto highway exits at a pretty good clip and it was solid as a rock. Nice ride, very "convertable."

I put 36,000 miles on a Road King police bike. It was an 02. Bike was fine. A few things that seem to pop up w/baggers; The shifting linkage as well as stock exaust pipes cracking at the "Y"> I currently have 48,000 miles on my "05 electraglide and have gone through at least two that I can think of. Big problem with the older Twinks is the cam chain tensioners. I dont worry about that-I converted mine to a gear driven set up. At first I never had the"wobble" but after about 30,000 it seemed to develop. I plan on getting a stabilizer. My brothers '07 has some what I consider to be seriouse heat issues. My advice is to get it remapped and get an oil cooler.
Being 5'7 you might want to get the bike lowered. The bike might still be a bit large for you. Make sure the bike fits you-maybe you should rent one for the weekend, put 500 miles on it and then you will know.
Oh yeah, before I forget-I could care less about the size of your stomach muscles(unless your a girl!)
