When I got my '07 the guy I bought it from let it set out in the rain so the aluminum was beginning to get dull. Luckily it only had 4K miles on it and I was able to bring it back. Some 0000 steel wool with Mothers mag polish followed up with a good coat of carnuba wax and it is as easy to keep up with as the chrome. I added a Biketronics Retro radio kit along with the the additional gauges with trim rings. Done some other things to dress it up and I am very happy with it. The previous owner installed a luggage rack along with removable driver and passenger backrests. The touring bag I picked up holds as much as a tourpack at a fraction of the cost.

I dont have anything to compare too since this is my first bike, but I have out over 700 miles in 3 weeks of owning my 09 E.G. std. most of those miles 2 up with my wife.
I am thrilled with ride, handling, and comfort. I bought it used with 411 miles the prior owner added a stereo with 6 speakers (6x9 in bags) and did come with cruise control and padded back rest in denim black.
Gotta go ridin to Big Bear today need to pack up.

[QUOTE=the4thgearkid;4668561]Well, after going over all the stuff I want to add to the 06 fatboy (Air Shocks, New Seat and cruise) along the air buffeting problem I have... I am seriously considering buying a 2009 Electra Glide Standard. The dealer has one with aluminum covers instead of chrome and is vivid black... bare bones model. I like the new features with the 09 models, back tire width and new frame.... but, for those who have them here are my questions...
1) Happy you have it?
2) Pro's/Con's (any)
2) Do you wish you would've bought a Electra Glide Classic or Ultra?

Lettme know any thing on your mind.
Thanks

Just took the time to run through this thread and with all the FLHT gents chiming in, I'm surprised nobody really touched on the merits of an FLHTP since it's based on the Standard but has a lot more going for it AND can be had for equal or less than the MSRP on the Standard. Mine is an '09, I bought it new for WAY less than a Standard. And, for that price I got the Ultra saddlebag guards and fender trim, heat shield (big deal), 103" black motor w/chrome instead of polished trim, oil cooler, the permanent 2-up rack, etc. and that's just the main items. Since each bike has its down sides, here's a few small minor details; no passenger boards (quick & easy fix), swapping out the police air seat is a cinch (though very comfy if you don't mind the looks), no radio (again, not a difficult issue), comes with the Street Glide wheels (bad or good depending on your taste), handlebar switch gear is a little different (can swap to full Ultra switches easier than dealer will tell you).

You simply get a lot of bike for the dollar with the Police bike. Just food for thought since it wasn't discussed here. Somebody posted that sweet looking denim Standard, that DOES look cool. Of all the Standards I've seen ('09's), that black denim looks ***-kickin in person, I have to admit.

Whatever '09 touring model you choose, you'll love it. Best of luck.

No regrets here..I had purchased an 09 Heritage Softail. Great bike and comfortable. With two up we were maxing the shocks and dragging the floorboards on corners. Had it a month. Did a demo on Ultra Tour and saw EGS in Denim Black (09) 2 thou cheaper and looked sweet. Dealer was awesome did a straight trade (rewrote contract) we added a back rest and luggage rack. It had the laced wheels on it. With the add ons it looks sharp. Better than the 28 spoke. Im going to see if dealer will switch out or trade for the new Agitator wheels. we will see

Well since you asked, I would say get the ultra. I can't imagine being without all the extras that the ultra has. It's nice to be able to communicate with my friends via cb when we're on a ride.
