To me the RG has a lot of attitude whereas the other two look like geezerglides.
Well, the front fairing not moving in a turn took me like 1 turn to get used to... kind like it because everything stays straight. But, it had more air buffeting for me than the electra glides did.
The vivid black to me looks cool. My wife thinks the classic looks like "an old mans bike" I just laugh. Back in the day a sportster was an old mans bike. lol.
Anyway, based on the the road glide being a 08, that wont happen, just a much better ride on the 2009s.
Yup, I wouldn't get an '08 either. I test rode several last year, and took one on an 1200 mile 3 day trip but while I had a great time it wasn't enough to make me pull the trigger. The '09 was though.
The RG's buffeting comes from the fairing being further away from you but it seems that can be sorted. Besides having lighter steering, its stability in crosswinds is supposed to be much better than the batwings.
Actually went shopping for a 09 Street Glide ... when was offered the left over new 08 EGS for close to 5 K Less was a done deal ... Like Vivid Black anyway ... Since had it have done a Stage 1 with PCIII tune added a few Mods. Changed the Primary, Derby, Horn, Tranny and Cam Covers to Vivid Black Powdercoat also haved changed the Handlebar grips to ISO's and the Rider Footpegs for a better look then added a Detach Backrest and Tourpack also mounted Highway Pegs and quite happy for now... All this was done for 3K less than the New 09 Street Glide would have cost.. Am sure will be more to come but quite happy as it is now..
I bought an '09 standard. I've always been conservative w/my money and went for the 'better' price. I was just happy to have a new bike, and thought I would be content without the extras. It wasn't thirty days before I started wanting to add stuff...$$$!!!
Since you are about to drop $17K on a new bike, just pony up $2K more and get a classic or street glide. It is not very satisfying to just'kinda' get what you may really want.
In hind sight, I realize my own questioning of buying the standard was just settling and not paying the price for what I really wanted.
formally, vivid black '09 EGS
currently, red hot sunglo '09 street glide

TennesseeEG, I am glad you like your street glide. They are nice bikes.

I always wondered where those new used bikes on showroom floors came from. That little mistake had to cost ya.
