Default Red or Blue Loctite?

I'm in the process of replacing all of the orgininal nickel bolts on the top transmisssion cover, clutch release cover and cam cover with chrome hex allen head bolts. My questions is should I use blue or red loctite?

Blue locktite for screws and bolts to be removed. Red locktite for bolts to stay in place, not to be removed easily.

My rule is simply, if it may need to come off within a year, use blue. If it's longer than that, I use red. I know this isn't any scientific formula, but it's worked for me for the last 40 years.

The shop manual doesnt always tell you to use loctite. Some places it does other places it doesnt. It isnt very consistent!

maybe they just don't want you to use loctite in those places where they don't tell you to?

skratch,
that was what I thought but there are a lot of places that the manual doesnt call for it and it should have it? That is why it is a little odd.
