I have noticed here in North Carolina that the gas pumps do not have any labeling that indicate the content of the gasoline...such as Ethanol or Methanol content. The only stickers on the pumps are the octane ratings.
How can you tell the quality of the fuel without knowing it's content?
Is there a website to check this or anything?

Here in WI the gas 87,89, oct has 10% Eth, the Premium is 92 oct with no Ethenol, but the lower grades are labled at the pumps. I think our law requires them to tell you, hopefully they won't touch the Premium. I don't know what Harley recommends now, back in the late 70's everything switched to unleaded but Harley didn't till early 80's, my 78 FLH still isn't converted but the Lowrider is (lower compression, different valves and guides).
use only a high grade gasoline like chevron shell 76 and only use premiuim
there are some real cheap fuels out there you get what you pay for-ride safe

In North Texas, 90 octane is the best you can get in the way of premium.
I can get 93 octane here all day long, but I have noticed a huge difference between stations...even of the same brand...especially in the winter. I'd like to know what they mix in there.
I used off brand gas from somewhere this weekend that advertised 100% gasoline and I could really tell a positive difference in the performance and range of that tank. This makes me believe that the Ethanol or Methanol in the gas I get near home may be negatively affecting things...
I thought it was a federal law that they had to label the content of the gas? Here in OKC we have station that have pure gas and that is what i will use...
When they add the 10% ethanol to our fuels, my fuel economy drops by 20% in my truck. I would hate to see how much horespower goes bye bye.
Yip..that's what I've noticed. I was really happy with my Fuelmoto package with PCV and autotune but after this weekends "good" tank of gas I was REALLY HAPPY with it. I want that gas all the time.
I was actually leary of using it at first because of the no name brand...I usually use only Chevron when possible...but Shell hasn't been any better here either. I want pure gas!
