I think I might have heard a rumor that the MOCO has plans to offer a little dual-gauge that shows both oil & air temp. that's guaranteed to be accurate within +/- 152 degrees. Only $985.95 plus installation (estimated at 6.5 hours @ $193.99/hr.) Hee hee.
Only accurate if you are checking Harley Davidson air
Mine is accurate and has been since new, but then I don't try to find fault with everything on the bike so I have something to bitch about.
Your white faring is probably less prone to solar heating. Mine has a black top color over green. It gets very warm inside in the sunlight.
I am not bitchin, I am just trying to correct a design flaw, and I am aware enough about features that I paid for to notice when something doesn't work. If the radio tuned the wrong station or the turn signals blinking on the wrong sides, I would probably fix that and let folks on this forum know how I did it.
I dunno... One day last summer I was riding and thought "Holy crap is it HOT out here..." A glance at the thermometer did indeed confirm that thought. And just a few days ago (in the low 30's) I was freezing my knap sack off on a short ride. Once again, the thermometer came to my rescue as it most definitely read a much lower number.
In a car, you'd possibly have to open a window for such accuracy.
Now that was good. You should have been writing for Jay Leno.
I actually want mine to function better. I ride when freezing and up. I actually would like to read between say... 25 and 45. Do NOT like below freezing rides as the road surfaces will be frozen also.

Well, that's true, we paid good money for these bikes. Everything should work. If my outside temp gauge didn't work on my new Chevy I would be flippin out at GM too.
HD says you really can't justify complaining about the cold or excessive heat unless you know how cold or hot it really is. A very useful gage for helping me confirm that I am in fact freezing my A$$ off.
