So, I'm thinking nobody is happy with the air temperature gauge accuracy, what does HD say about it? Surely they must have a solution...after all it is just a thermometer. I know, I know but I still want mine to read properly. Has anyone figured it out?
I dunno... One day last summer I was riding and thought "Holy crap is it HOT out here..." A glance at the thermometer did indeed confirm that thought. And just a few days ago (in the low 30's) I was freezing my knap sack off on a short ride. Once again, the thermometer came to my rescue as it most definitely read a much lower number.
In a car, you'd possibly have to open a window for such accuracy.
It just fills a extra hole in the fairing. I believe an oil temp gauge would be a better fit. But, Harley probably thinks that would scare too many people. Another way to look at it is that they could sell more oil coolers.
I like my air temp gauge. Check it frequently. Good conversation piece, as, who else makes a motorcycle with an ambient air temp gauge? I would like to have an oil temp gauge too. Can't we have both?

I think I might have heard a rumor that the MOCO has plans to offer a little dual-gauge that shows both oil & air temp. that's guaranteed to be accurate within +/- 152 degrees. Only $985.95 plus installation (estimated at 6.5 hours @ $193.99/hr.) Hee hee.

Reason: To add a few more wiseass remarks
BMW uses an extremely accurate ambient temperature gauge on their K1200LT Touring bike. It has the added advantage of being able to be read while your moving. It's in a better place and it's digital. Having said that, I don't know why you need it either.
