What did I do wrong? I installed the Cee Bailey's SSC for RG 15" euro on the glide last weekend and kinda had trouble getting the rubber under the windshield the way it looked from the factory. It only barely catches under the screws. Thought it was good to go so. I went for a short ride and everything seemed fine. It was 70 today so took it out for a 70 mile run on the interstate at 65-80 mph. On the way home I stopped for gas and the rubber had came completely out from all but the left screw and was flopping around by the fender. I pulled it out from under the screw and put it in the tour pak. Now the shield is still there but the weather stripping in gone. What did I do wrong and how do I correct it? Will I have to buy a new rubber strip? Am I an idiot or does it not fit very well and bolts up poorly? anyone else experience this? I like the shield but not to happy about the rubber flapping all over my paint going down the hiway. Anyone have luck with the ssc with the harley chrome windshield trim? any opinions are appreciated. Thanks, HMT
I haven't tried the Cee Baileys yet, but I did have a Klock Werks on my '08 Road Glide for a while. I just mounted the windshield directly to the fairing without any weatherstripping at all and really liked the clean look. I wonder if that would be a good option for you as well? The HD rubber trim never did fit real well, even with the stock windshield.
I think gluing the molding to the windshield is the only option. Personally I'am tired of fighting with the stupid weather stripping, doesn't stay on the stock windshields and won't stay on the cee baileys either. If anybody knows of a good glue that's not too messy chime in, I think it would be the way to go.
fought that dam rubber molding till I was thoroughly pissed walked a way for a while mixed up a good stiff drink came back and just through that piece of **** in the garbage bolted the windshield down put the chrome trim cover on and have not had a problem since
Basically its a pos. Either chuck or hide it.
I used some spot glue and covered it with the HD windshield trim. IMHO it improves the front end anyway.
Kuryakyn sell a trim too!
Thanks for the replies. I've been having internet problems yesterday. Glad to know its not just me. I stopped at Harley today at lunch. Seems the chrome trim will work so I'll probably go that route. I may glue the weather stripping to the windshield first then cover it with the trim. The parts guy said without the weather stripping the wind pressure could possibly cause stress cracks in the shield. Dont want that. To much money to trash the shield. I'm gonna call cee baileys and ask them what to do. If I get any info, I'll repost. Thanks,Rick
