Default LCD Digital Dipstick Breakdown for 06 RKC ?

Pulled my LCD Dipstick over the weekend to do an oil change. I have an 06 RKC The darn thing was stuck and took some serious twisting and turning to get it out. When it came free, it came out in 4 or 5 pieces. The light still works when the button is pushed, but lord knows how or if it can go back together. I know they are a problem item, but it has worked well for the last three years...not bad considering how many on these forums didnt get a month out of theirs. Does any one have a set of instructions that came with one of these things that might show the breakdown? Although I dont think so, my concern is to assure that nothing dropped in the crankcase

dang...5 pieces? I can think of 2: dipstick that swivels and the gauge itself. I have a spare one for sale if you need a replacement.

I took my LCD dipstick out today for the first time in about a year and the entire chrome part came off. I got out the instructions that came with it and it says I should twist it counter-clockwise to remove it, not clockwise or even pulling straight out. Anyway I'm just going to glue the chrome piece back on it...it's worked fine for the last 5 years or so...

I always need to replace the battery every spring (never lasts through the cold winter).

Don't recall ever having a breakdown sheet though.

Try using a battery tender

The chrome cap came off mine as well, after probably 20,000 + miles. Guess what, the stock dipstick seems to work just fine!

In trying to pull mine out after the winter, I pulled the chrome cap off as well. Then it was a matter of getting the rest of the thing out. When the directions say only turn it counter clockwise..it means just that. If you look at the mechanism, turning it counter clockwise, actually unlocks it. Turning it clockwise actually tightens it in the hole. pulling hard and turning it both ways, the hold mechanism came apart. I did get it back together and put the cap back on with high temp RTV. All seems ok now. Ive read a lot of bad posts on this thing, but mine has worked fine for the last three years. I have found it to be quite accurate. I'm wondering if most of the trouble is folks simply not reading the directions that came with it, regarding exactly how the reading work and specifically how to remove it using the counter clockwise/pull method only.
