Default stereo dilema

Finally got to take a few rides over the past week up here in Wisconsin and had a chance to check out the new stereo setup. Had my dealer (Madison HD) install the new Hogtunes speakers and amp. Also put dynazorb behind the speakers. I'm not sure if the dealer messed something up or not but the stereo seems lacking. It's been a long winter but I recall the stock setup as actually sounding better. There is a noticeable increase in bass but this seems to be at the expense of upper ranges which seem weak and distorted, including vocals. The sound seems somewhat worse if I have the fade all the way in front and better if its split 50:50.

Anyone else have this experience? Gonna have the service dept take a listen but if this is the best it gets I'm thinking my choices are 1) Add the new hogtunes tweeters (another $189) or return the hogtunes amp/speakers and probably go with Hawg wired (would only be $150 more then the hogtunes setup. Any thoughts?

Something doesn't seem right if you don't hear much improvement. If you want a system that will blow your socks off, return it and get one of our "Gold Packages". It's the ARC 125.2 mini amp, KS6026 6-1/2" speakers, adapters rings and install kit for $498. You would not be disappointed!

Sounds like you have some other issue there. I have been running just the HogTune speakers for almost 3 years, no issues and the sound was a lot better then the stock speakers ever were.

Just spent some time in the garage messing with the stereo. I don't think anything is wrong with it, sounds pretty good sitting still. I think I was maybe expecting more. I still seem to think it's the higher frequencies I would like to improve-bass is great.

Has anyone added the hogtunes tweeter pod to their original hogtunes/amp setup? How much was the improvement? Been reading that hawg wired does a better job with the higher frequencies possibly at the expense of some bass. Still debating which way to go.

I have upgraded my stock HK head unit with the Hogtunes amp & speaker kit. I also added the tweeter pods. The tweeter pods have a crossover built into them that separates the highs and sends the Mids and bass to the fairing speakers. You plug the leads form the head unit into the leads that go to the crossover in the pod. Then leads from speakers plug into the pods cross over output leads. That way you can adjust the tone to your liking. I'm very happy with this set up.

Im prolly gonna **** some people off here but my system had the same effect on me... My hearing isnt that great anyway and the added base did nothing for me but add base and take some or maybe a bunch of the clarity out of the stock system.. I added a detachable tourpack and a passenger backrest and i prolly wont run the tour-pak much anymore so I may just convert back to the original speakers and remove the amp. I was asked if I wanted to sell the amp and with no job every little bit helps so i may go that route.. I do agree on your findings though .

Does the amp have a built in High/Low bypass or filter switch. The switch usualy is a three-way (he he he I said three-way) switch that says something like this:

H - OFF - L

Its possible that the amp is limiting the higher sound range if it is set on the "L" setting. It should be on the "OFF" setting for full range sound.

Take the dynazorb out? I thought this stuff was supposed to make a big improvement. Anyone else have this experience?
