Motorcycle GPS
The power plug looks very long and I was worried about it hitting the tank.
Thanks,
Banks

I have an early Rider with its mounting cradle and power wire. I used a modified Techmount on the r/h handlebar.
Use a four-pole auto relay, the sort used for auto lights, horns, etc. The one I used has terminals marked with the numbers: 30, 85, 86, 87. I used crimped connectors and everything is probably available at your local friendly auto parts store. Disconnect your battery before making any electrical modifications - electrickery can kick hard!
Find somewhere convenient to fix the relay - I put mine under my left side cover. Run a 30Amp fused power wire from the battery '+' terminal to 30; another wire to a convenient ground/earth screw from 86; the TomTom red wire to 87 (install another low-power fuse - I used 4Amp); then run a wire to 85 from the switched side of your ignition switch; run the black TomTom wire to a convenient ground/earth.
My bike has a row of thermal cutouts behind the instruments and I ran the 85 wire from the white/grey wired one, which is powered up when my ignition switch is turned to 'Ignition'.
When the ignition is switched on, 85 switches on the relay, which then switches power from the battery to your TomTom. When you turn the bike off, the relay switches off as well. You can use this new relay for adding other accessories (I am also adding an intercom). Later bikes than my old FLHS may have a more adaptable harness.
The attraction of this approach is that the only disturbance of the bike's original electrical system is taking a wire from that grey/white connector, which on my bike is a screw terminal and only needs a spanner.

Has all the stuff you will need .....
Also Kuryakyn has come out with a bar clamp that you can
mount a ball to so you can use a any RAM mount on it
instead of the UGLY U-bolt type.

Rob ....
Will keep my Zumo 550 on the bike.
Wife also had a 550, but hated the form factor. She use to have a pink Nuvi 200 and preferred that body style, so we traded her 550 to a friend in exchange for a new 265WT. She's happy again, which is important. =)
Garmin, the only GPS for me.
