I was looking at my service manual yesterday at the wiring section in the back. Found a "fender tip" light harness that is not used on my Road King. Located the harness end in the nacelle. It is wired to the ignition switch for both accessory and ignition side.

Going to get the end of the plug and hard wire in my Nuvi 200. I don't see any reason to not use this as it is right in the nacelle and the Nuvi draws very little.

Anyone had experience with this particular harness?

So Europeans following this topic should take note.

We are also taking maps....

I'm looking to get a GPS for my bike and am looking at the Zumo's from Garmin.

Someone in here mentioned that the 450 is discontinued so it may be found at a decent price. Am I reading right and see that the only difference between the 450 and 550 is no turn by turn directions, bluetooth, and XM?

Anyone buy a 450 and wish they'd gone for the 550?

I don't have a helmet with a mic or anything, so am not sure if btooth or the directions will really be of benefit to me.

Some bike intercoms now link with a gps unit and relay the spoken commands. So if you do a lot of two up riding and have or fit an intercom, you can get ear-ache from behind and commands from the gps up front at the same time! The best of both worlds....

In that case you would probably need the latest versions of both types of kit. On the other hand if you like to ride in perfect harmony with your bike and don't like interruptions, an earlier gps will do!

My TomTom Rider has bluetooth, but it is crude and not compatible with any intercoms, or anything else audio for that matter, so I have no choice but to keep an eagle eye on it.

"you can get ear-ache from behind and commands from the gps up front"

Haha that's awesome.

I usually use my ipod and shure in ear earbuds so even if the thing was talking to me I'm not sure if I'd hear it anyway haha.

Fortunately they haven't come up with a gps yet that can poke us in the ribs....

What do you do for power? Do you just run it off the batteries, or is there an easy way to get power to it?

I added a power outlet to my inner faring on the oppsite side where the clutch cable comes through and supplied power from the existing cig lighter. That circuit goes on and off with the ignition switch and is already fused fom the bikes electrical system and the plug on the GPS has the 1 or 2 amp fuse to protect the GPS unit. Here are a couple of pics. Ride Safe!!
