Default another Ipod cable question?

Hey all recently saw a guy at my local HD shop that ran the Ipod cable from the stereo straight down into the switch area of the inner fairing. He drilled a hole in the flat switch plate cover and then used a rubber grommet to seal it up. He then ran the cable under the gas tank and it came out by the front of the seat and he mounted his Ipod on the gas tank in the center of the chrome piece about 2in from where the seat meets the tank, this allowed him to fully control the Ipod and also remove it when he was parked. It was a very clean install and now of course I want to try it. My question is this:

1. has anyone on this forum done this?

2.) if so where did you get the grommet?

3.) can you post pictures for me?

Thanks!

RJ

You could get the grommets from Home Depot or Lowes. If you do a search there are loads of threads on iPod installation from cable tying a Shuffle to the bars to a Harmon Kardon Drive and Play. My personal problem with an iPod on your tank is that you are looking down to make any changes while riding. I would want it in my sight line.

Have you considered a RAM mount? They make for a very clean install and you could mount your ipod on either the handlebar or inner fairing. Just a thought.
