I tried a lowering kit first and after dragging the tire in the top of the fender several times (I ride one up and wiegh 200LBS) I removed them and put on a set of short Progressive air shocks and they work great!!

I too have the lowering blocks and I am very happy with them. I just turned the speedo over 10,000 and I got no complaints. The wife rides on the back and she is happy too. I have the option to go 1-2-3 inches and I only went 1" with the lower seat and it is just great.

well the *** hat that was going to sell me the shocks dropped me a message that said he decided to keep them... after 2 days of messaging back and forth making sure they'll fit my bike and talking price... WTF?? i guess for now it's back to the lowering block idea unless someone can find me a set of 440s or 412s for a decent price.

The hard bags have a slot on the back side to allow for the change in shock angle where the RKC soft bags don't. You can use the blocks on a RKC if you shim the bags out 1" on top and 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" on the bottom.

I have the H-D lowering kit on my Ultra. No Problems. The dealer offered them as part of the original purchase. If I was looking to do it now I'd be looking for some Street Glide take offs (I think Road Glide shocks would also work).

I used the HD rear lowering air shocks. Pricey, but made a difference for me.

Good luck. These are hard to find used, just bite the bullet and buy new.

As an engineer, I think lowering blocks are a bad idea, puts stress on the rear swingarm in a way that it was never designed for.

In the end, do it right, safer for you and passenger.

I have done'em all.Best deal is Bitchin Baggers.Just make sure you don't lower your bike too much.I don;t say this because of bottoming out or scraping as much as what the body riding position becomes.Backaches and shoulder ache are no fun on the trip of a lifetime.

Personally, I replaced the 12" shocks on my 07 SG with 13" shocks and lowering blocks. Kept the rear end low but greatly improved the ride. I think the 12" HD shocks for pre-09 bikes ride too harsh.
