Default Looking for better mpg

I have several trips planned this summer and I would like to get more miles out of a tank of gas, mostly so I'm not always the first to need gas. Starting with a 2001 Electra Glide Standard, carbureted, Stage 1, Screamin' Eagle slip-ons. Currently getting 38 mpg with conservative throttle. Considering going back to stock mufflers and re-jetting back to original jets. Anybody had any luck retro-fitting back to stock?

maybe leave the stage one and go one size leaner on the jet , just watch the pluggs to make sure its not to lean?

proper tire pressure. remove unnecessary weight. clean the air filter. maintain steady speed if at all possible.

You may pick up a couple miles per gallon by using an octane booster. Its hard to get quality gas with all the ethanol that's now added. My bike runs much better and is ping free using a booster. I picked up about 2 miles per gallon and can easily hit 40 mpg. 95", gear driven cams, fueling oil pump.

I can get 50-51 MPG under 65 and 2 up. 42-43 MPG over 70, 2 up.

I have a stock set up and get 50+ MPG. Can't beat that. Stock may not sound as nice, but you can't beat the fuel economy.
