I've got the 06 with the vents. They were a little warm at the end of last summer. It was only 85 on Saturday and I have already been thinking about trying it without them. When it gets into the 90's I will probably remove them just to see. They are an easy removal. Hope this helps.

I left mine on and temps over 100. didn't experience any problems. Acually when moving I think they may channel air into motor.

If you carry a passenger for long runs, you have to remove them. The heat really builds fast on her legs, and she will put her feet up on your bags, scratching the hell out of them. (speaking from experiance)
