RJ Originals are the way to go. Very neat looking, simulated leather, blend into the frame. Can still access the back rest control (but you do have to twist your hand to accomplish this) when riding.

Default Heat shields

I have both the HD heat shields and the backrest on my RG. The shields work with the backrest, but not the adjustable backrest. I have them and they work.

Hope this helps.

get the Kuryakyn shields. they will fit with no problem and install faster/easier than the H-Ds.

Harley says a lot of things don't work together but I've never let that stop me.
I would bet RJ Originals would work.

Stay away from the Kuryakans, I have broken 3 sets in the last year. SUre they stood behind them and replaced them, but I finally gave up and went with the HD ones.

I have the Adjustable backrest, the HD shields will NOT work with them, unless you find a new place for the adjustment lever. I ended up setting it where I want it, and lockin it down, then removed the cable and lever.

Seems to work so far..

I have a '07 FLHTCU with an adjustable (manual) back rest and the heat deflectors work just fine. I was told they won't work with a remote/adjustable back rest. The cable adjustment gets in the way.

I have RJ Origionals on my flhtcui and they do a wonderful job.

I looked at Kurkyans first - talked to a guy that had them & he didn't recommend them. He broke several as his chaps caught on them when dismounting.

Also, have the adjustable drivers backrest - just takes a moment to move the sheild to get at the backrest lever.........no big deal.
