I am looking at mid frame heat deflectors/ saddle shields I have a FLHTCU with the back rest. They say at the Harley shop that they wont work on a bike with the backrest some of you say that they will.I need to know the ones that will any idea. Thanks
RJ Originals are the way to go. Very neat looking, simulated leather, blend into the frame. Can still access the back rest control (but you do have to twist your hand to accomplish this) when riding.
I have both the HD heat shields and the backrest on my RG. The shields work with the backrest, but not the adjustable backrest. I have them and they work.
Stay away from the Kuryakans, I have broken 3 sets in the last year. SUre they stood behind them and replaced them, but I finally gave up and went with the HD ones.
I have the Adjustable backrest, the HD shields will NOT work with them, unless you find a new place for the adjustment lever. I ended up setting it where I want it, and lockin it down, then removed the cable and lever.
I have a '07 FLHTCU with an adjustable (manual) back rest and the heat deflectors work just fine. I was told they won't work with a remote/adjustable back rest. The cable adjustment gets in the way.
