Ok I am sure this has been talked about before but I can not find exactly what I am looking for in the previous threads.
Here goes, I charged the battery and then let her run for about 20-30 min since I cant ride yet(foot surgery). Every thing was smooth and not a single drop of anything under the bike all winter, not a drop! Then went out side this morning before work and found a huge puddle of fuel under the bike. Looked at the bike and it is comming from the bottom of the carb (s&s). any suggestions / ideas.
By the way it was last night I ran it and checked it this morning just so you have the exact time frame
I am not real familiar with s&s carbs, but it should have a removeable bowl on the bottom of the carb.If you can get that off you should be able to get to the needle and seat and blow it out.
Did you shut off the petcock. If not, then the vacum check valve might be worn on the petcock. If you did turn off the petcock then there is something in the float bowl area that push past the needle.
Haven't messed with an S&S carb. for many years. Had one on my shovel head. It was a great performer. Only draw back If I forgot to close the pet **** I risked filling the lower end with gas and washing the cyl. walls. gas every where if dirt got between the needle and seat.
Thanks for all the advice/help! I just wiped her down (all the leaked fuel) and took her for a spin for about 10 min. I parked her and it's been about an hour and no more leaked fuel yet!!! Any chance it was just the carb gunked up from sittn all winter?
