When I did mine, I sat down at the workbench in the garage close to the bike. Then I saw where the remote switch was soldered int and shorted the points with a piece of wire to be sure it worked. Instead of adding the switch to mine, I shorted it together and then ran a wire to the headlight high beam power to replace the battery. Now when I flip to high beam, it opens or closes the garage door.
I do like the switch in this post though and may get it to use for something else.
I did basically the same thing except I just used my ACC switch since I didn't have any "accessories". I soldered wires to the battery contacts then put a jumper wire on the button contacts so it would think the button was pushed all the time. Then I attached the battery contact wires to the ACC switch so when it's flipped on it's like putting a battery in it then when it's switched off it like taking the battery out. I mounted it inside the fairing since I won't ever have to change the battery. I thought about the SE saddlebag lock switch but figured I'd screw something up trying to install it. Simple minds use simple methods.
I bought a "replacement" odometer reset switch from the dealer. It is a momentary switch with a rubber, weatherproof, cover. I mounted it on the dash and wired it to my remote. The switch and rubber cover was about $15 from Harley. I don't remember the part # though - just ask at the parts counter.

like this mod but can you provide a little more detail on how/where do you connect to high beam switch? Can you connect near battery or do you go through headlight?
