Had my front crash bar save me from a possible broken leg when part of an aluminum step ladder blew out from under some traffic ahead of me. It busted my rt. turn signal and gouged the paint on the fairing. It also took a plug of leather out of my steel toed boot but it saved my leg from getting hit. For me I will keep my crash bars.

second day I had my 09 SG I was in a gravel parking lot, they guy in front of me dropped his and I grabbed the front brake-yep I went over like a ton of bricks-right on the crash bar-small scratches on the bar and the bottom of one of the saddle bag (will be getting the rear guards soon!!). Definetly a keeper in my book!

I just removed all mine off my 09 RKC yesterday! It's looks AMAZING...so glad I did it! I'll try to post some pics of it on here later for ya. I thought twice about it while playing over alot of "what if" scenarios in my head. But ya know something, almost all motorcycles out there on the road today don't have crash bars on them & if I'm gonna live my life by constantly asking myself "what if" then I might as well chain myself up in a steel room for the rest of my life.

Keep them. Dropped my m/c twice. Easier to pick up and it saved my bags (that was before this bike. The 09s didn't come w/saddlebag guards).

Maybe I'm just getting old because it seems my bike gets laid down at least once a year, so the bars save me. My son laid my 09 SG down last week trying to move it in the garage, so I've decided to get saddlebag bars.
But, I like the no bars look of some Road Kings and would consider doing that if I ever get one for second bike. I have not seen a batwing bike without bars, so I don't know.
