Take them off and live with botht he look and the results should you drop her. Personally, I spend too much time with my feet on the highway pegs not to have mine. That and I have seen a bike dropped without them too.

Keep them. They really can save your leg if you get into an accident. That's a whole lot of weight falling and maybe taking your leg along with it. With the bars, your leg can remain safely under the bar and hopefully not get crushed. I dropped my RK once and slid about 2 feet and was glad to have it there. Nothing happened to the bike other than a little scratch on the bottom of the crash bars and my leg wasn't smashed under the bike. Plus they don't look bad on baggers.

keep em. i had someone back into my rk in a parking lot, and knocked it over. the engine/crash bars saved my bike from any damage. plus the bars made it easier to lift the bike up off its side.

years ago i took a hard spill no crash bar and tore off the end of the cranckshaft bet the bar woudla been cheaper to replace.

Other than a place to bolt on highway pegs and lowers, the engine guard is useless and ugly.

coulda bought 20 crash bars for the price of new crank and casing.
