Question Kury Pilot grips -- throttle side too tight

Hey gang.

Finally got around to installing my new grips after having them for over a month, and well, the throttle side grip is too tight. It'll slide on just fine all the way till the last 1/2 inch. It seats itself just fine in the TBW teeth, but when I twist it it'll stick.

I tried gently bending the slotted ends of the handlebars in, and it helped some...until I put the throttle sensor back in, then it stuck again.

Can I "shave" down the TBW plastic? (I'd rather not of course)

Any ideas?

Thanks,
tj

PS - the stock grip works just fine

I experienced the same problem with the Iso grips when I installed them on a new set of bars. The OEM throttle grip would return just fine but the aftermarket grip would hang up enough that the spring return tension of the twist grip sensor couldn't return it to zero throttle.

I worked through it by lubing it up with several different types of lube until I found the one that worked the best. It ended up being a light smearing of anti seize. It still had a little drag to it. But I kept working it until it would spring back to zero.

It has since loosened up more on it's own. Just seems to be something about the Kuryakin grips that's not quite right for the electronic throttle! Try some of things I did and see if it doesn't improve for you also. If you can get it to spring back when you let go of the throttle you'll be okay. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice LowRider. I'll do some more experimenting. WD-40 seemed to help just a tad...I'll try some anti-sieze like you said.

Anything to keep me from trying to drill out the grip...haha...

Sand the bore and provide the needed clearance.
