Cool accessory switch

i have to replace my accessory switch, i can get the ignition switch off and the plate that holds all the switch's, is there a way of removing the plastic plate in the middle in order to allow the switch console to come out further, need a little more room to get at the switch...i have an 05 ultra

Have you removed the two screws; one on each side of the fairing cap on the outside of each fork?

Do yourself a favor and buy the HD Service Manual for 2005 Touring models. To do this job right, you will want to remove the old switch wires from the quick disconnect that those wires are in, and the SM tells you how to do this. It also tells you which slots the wires on the new switch go into.

You can simply splice the new switch into the old switch wires. Not the best method, but it's your bike.

+1 on getting a manual. If you are talking about the plastic plate with the switch positions printed on it, you will have to gently pry it up. Mine was glued down. I did not glue it back down. I just let washers and nut hold it in place.
