What he said (I put them on a Street Glide).

Put them on my 08 SG, noticed a big difference in comfort especially in cooler weather. Planning to take them off and go back to the mustache engine guard for the summer though. Like they said, no adverse diifference in handling if anthing it feels more steady, but maybe its all psychological.... Either way you won't be making a mistake putting them on and thats what you want to be sure of before forking over 600 bucks.

I like the looks they add....the idea of keeping the wind and water splash off my legs and feet.....also the option of putting Pez's Fairing Lowers Speaker Kit. Just trying to get some opinions of those "In the Know".

Thanks,

Adding fairing lowers to my bike was probaly the best investment ive made to it so far. They certainly add a nicer "fuller" look to the bike. And also having the glove boxes right there at an arm length away is nice. Was out riding saturday night, had my sunglasses on, it got dark, reached down grabbed my clear glasses outta the glove box threw my sunglasses back in the glove box and did it all at over 40 MPH

Haven't noticed any buffeting, love the extra protection and think they really add to the look of the bike.

And even if I had problems with the ride I couldn't give up Pez's fairing lower speakers!

GREAT LOOKING BIKE!!!! Love the RED!!!

Maybe that's the problem; you are going too slow.

At interstate speeds, there is always going to be a "bow wave" of air being pushed by the big rigs and it will move a touring bike whether you are passing or being passed. Haven't ridden with the chrome deflectors so can't compare it to riding with fairing lowers. And I can't say that I've noticed much difference between my bike with and without the fairing lowers as far as stability is concerned. But I sure appreciate their protection and appearance.
LOL....Im rather 'conservative' in my riding....I figure life's moving fast enough as it is. GF appreciates it too...that in itself means more than anything.

Upside:

1. Engine runs a bit cooler when moving, but may hamper cooling while stationary by trapping air. I have noticed the former but not the latter effect.

2. Helps keep water off legs to some degree in light to moderate rain while moving. They will not keep you dry in a deluge unless you wear rain gear.

3. I have not felt the need to remove them in summer even though I bought the quick-release kit. This kit was a waste of money for me.

4. Very helpful in cold weather for obvious reasons.

5. Has not hurt gas mileage except possibly when vents are closed.

6. Have not noticed any increase in buffeting by 18-wheelers or crosswinds, and this bike has always been releatively unaffected by either.

Downside: Cost of the lowers, but IMO well worth the expense.

Glad you commented on this Bob....I know we live in much the same environment.....(Red Stick and Htown)....HOT AND HUMID!!!! This was another concern of mine I failed to mention.....how the heat and humidity affected the ride...both the engine and comfort levels of the riders.

Definately a downside....the cost. MOCOs price for color-matched vented 58854-06BXY is $649.95....LSHD1 list them for $529 + free shipping....Zanotti is $535 + shipping. It'll be another + for LSHD1!

LOL....scheduling another day of OT for Pez's speaker kit......

Guess it NEVER ends huh?

Thanks again...

Yea that was me but now I am going to go with HD hard Lowers.

Does anyone know what part numbers are to add the glove boxes with snap on covers to these lowers? (09 FLTR). Do the "lowers" come with any glove box at all standard?
