Not quite so. HD does not offer the "vented" lowers for the Road Glide. I don't care about the vents but I would like to have glove boxes with the basic "snap on" cover. I don't know what the lowers will come with though or what will need to be ordered. Does anyone know what basic lowers come with?

Well I've had my 09 Ultra in 60mph cross winds on the way to Vegas while traveling through Victorville.
I don't beleive the lowers caused any wind related problems.

And if you ever ride while it is cold they are great for keeping your legs warm..

"Warm"? Heh...I dunno about that.

The coldest temp I've ridden in was 28*, and while they certainly helped keep my legs "less cold" I dunno if I'd go as far as saying they kept me "warm".

Even so...without them it woulda been a helluva lot colder. Worth every penny I spent on them.

Even those less expensive snap on or velcro "soft lowers" help to cut the wind and keep you "less cold" and drier too if it's raining. The lowers (soft or hard) help cut down on buffeting too.

Sorry,
Us sissy Southern California boys don't know COLD like you eastern boys.

It's terrible when we go out in the frigid 60 degree mornings.... (LOL)

You're right, I should have said less cold....

Plus if you add the lowers you get two more places to stuff more junk.....

Dallas = "Eastern"? 0.o

Well, Ok...it IS "East of Cali", but I prefer 60+ temps myself.

40's and below = full leathers.
50's is leather jacket & gloves.
60's is light jacket, light gloves optional.
70's is denim jacket at most (IF that)
80's is PERFECT riding weather.
90's and above = I'd prefer to ride butt naked, but that's not a pretty sight.

Sadly in Dallas we rarely have any of the "in between" temps that make for good riding, and seem to swing between the opposite extremes. Our Spring and Fall seasons only last about 52 minutes, 43 seconds. Then it's back to too-damned-cold, or too-damned-hot.

But hey...at least we don't have to deal with being socked in by snow for months at a time.

I poke fun at that, but here we are (wife and I), facing the decision to move from Dallas to NJ (Jersey City most likely) within the next year or so.

I only ride solo, so I can't speak for the effect of lowers on a passenger in summer. For me there were a few times last summer when I thought, "I kinda wish I had more air on my legs," but I then just propped them up on the highway bars for more air. Problem solved, and I don't think I would ever remove them.

Guess it NEVER ends huh?
No. Remember, he who dies with the most stuff wins.

Why on Earth would you want to do that? Have you been there???? Please go visit for a few days before you make that decision. Weekday as well as Weekend. Just some sane advice...

On the advice of her professional mentor who also lives there. Cheaper than Hoboken, from what I understand.

Trust me brother, it's not something I'm interested in. However moving to the NE and working in NY has been a dream of hers for years. She's been laying the groundwork for this for the last 5 or 6 years. Terrible timing though.

There's still a lot of discussion required before a final decision is made, but right now with this economy and the job market...I personally don't think it would be a wise move. Unfortunately it's likely one of those "take it now or lose it" options that probably won't be offered again.
