Leonidas,
excellent points in your #79 post ! Pretty much sums it all up. Sorry my link to the test did not work. Not sure why. I'm off to ohio bike week tomorrow, i'll try to repost it in a week when i'm back.
My gf just got her acc from speedtrix in quebec this past friday. www.speedtrix1.com
Try google searching them. Heads up thou, she seemed to go thru a lot of run around untill they finally shipped her helmet.
I'm excited by it as its really not much larger than our illegal polo's, and very light weight. Shes happy with it but notes that it has no inner material liner. (just the half inch of ensolite), and the trim that goes around it is kinda cheap looking. All in all thou i would say its definitely the way to go. She is going to try it with some of the foam padding they shipped it with. I'm curious, does your helmet have a "material' lining inside it???
I note her helmets sticker shows manufactured in 03 / 08. It came with paperwork showing the dot compliance for penetration, quick release strap fastener etc, which is great. (although the test is dated 2006)
The dot stickers inside and out are exactly that, stickers, not sewn in. However the paperwork supplied with the helmet show that the labelling needs to be permanent, but states that there is nothing to specify what "permanent" means. Guess stickers are ok. Also the dot sticker on the back of the helmet is not underneath the clearcoat. (johnny law said they had to be) Ha !
Anyway, before i **** people off from going on about this dot legal thing i'll end this.

cheers and see y'all at ohio bike week, yahoooo.

Got 25K+ miles under my ACC helmet and love it. Also, it's made in the USA!

no lining inside mine, just the same foam your gf got, mine shipped with 3 diff sizes of foam(thickness) to get the right size. The first helmet I ordered was a Large (according to their sizing chart my head should have fit this) but it was definitely too small, so I called them and they asked me to send it back and they replaced it with an XL... even with the XL I had to use the thinnest foam they had, and my noodle isn't exactly "extra large" lol.
As far as the DOT sticker goes, it is just that as well, a sticker on the surface. But I got some news for you, I don't know who told you that the DOT sticker had to be below the clear coat, but who ever that was, was full of s&^t ...I have quite a few helmets including a Shoei x-11 (1200 dollar event and the best helmet money can buy) and all of them are surface stickers. I've never seen a helmet with the DOT sticker below the clear coat... just sayin, I don't want you to be misinformed, so if "johny law" told you otherwise, then "johny law" needs to be "edumacated" lol.
On another note, have fun at Ohio bike week and safe travels, lets see some pics when you get back
cheers!

Just a head's up, so to speak. ACC is in the process of producing the Trooper II model with DOT specs. I just recieved mine last week. Attached are some pics. I have only had the opportunity to wear it for short trips around town. Heading out on a 600 mile trip this weekend so it will get a good test.

Initial impressions. I like the look of the helmet in natural carbon fiber color. Might not be for everyone. I initially ordered a large based on their fitment chart and it was too small. Like someone else in this thread, the helmet rubbed on the front and back of my head and was loose on the sides. Maybe I have an oblong shaped melon. Sent it back hassle free after a phone call to ACC. They told me that since the DOT Trooper II is not in full production as of yet the wait for an extra large could be several weeks. The extra large arrived one week later! Fits much better and is very light. As I mentioned above, I wore it around town and have no complaints.

BTW, I ordered the standard D-ring straps.

If you like it give them a call. The customer service is excellent.

I will add additional comments after my upcoming trip for the Hell's Canyon Rally this weekend.

Then I guess Harley Store bought helmets are no good?
Cause the Harley DOT Helmet:
http://www.harley-davidson.com/mcm/m...bmLocale=en_US
The sticker is NOT under any clearcoat.

Also the correct link for Speedtrix is:
http://www.speedtrix.com/

The date in the first pic looks like 05/07?!
Can't wait to see how you make out on a trip with it.
