I have an 05 Road King Custom. I would like to put some forward controls on but dont want to spend the $800 for the Accutronics, and I cant find anyone else that makes them. Does anyone know if controls off a softail will bolt on or do they have to be specific to the flh models?
Softtail forward controls won't work without fabrication. Only companies that I found that make the forward controls for the FLs are Accutronix, Jaybrake and Hawg Halters.
I just orded the Jaybrake controls this past week. They are quite bit cheaper than both the Accutronix and Hawg Halters. I liked them better also.
Had my Jaybrake JFL's for almost a year and love them. They are nearly half the price of the Accutronix, more comfortable than floorboards, and are well constructed. No complaints.
I got my set of 9" extended Accutronix controls on e-Bay, brand new, still in blister pack, for $560.
I love them!
The only two regrets I have are
1) they are the slotted style & the chrome has started to blister a little on the insides of the slotted pegs.
2) The foot pegs are fixed & I get a little nervous about taking twisties too hard.
I'm afraid I'll scrape one & it might be enough to throw me.
Sounds similar to the JayBrakes I had on my Springer. The chrome started to blister after a couple years as well. Probably partially my fault for not keeping them as clean as I could considering the rides along the beach with the salt air. This time around I'm thinking anodized black.
They really put you out another 9" though?! That sounds great.
