I plan on riding Deals Gap, and the Cherehala Skyway the first 2 weeks in June, my question is will I need to pack leathers or will it be warm enough without them, I do have rain gear but was wondering what the temp is like at that time of year?

Yes, I would take them. I personally don't leave home without them.
rode the Cherehala last summer at the bottom t shirt is fine, at the top had to put on my jacket. when I travel I usually wear my chaps anyway so I already had them on.

Take 'em with you. If you travel 441 over the mountain pass from NC to Tennessee you could run into any type of weather, even in June. Been there, done that, and hiked those mountains all of my growin' up years. You could also go from a bright sunny day on one side on the mountains to a fogged in damp and cold wetness on the other. You'd be well served to have your leathers on. Besides, ya never know when yur leathers may save you from a mean ol' varmit like a curled up smake or a tourist!
I am planning a trip to deals gap and up the Blue Ridge Parkway to Niagara and back the last week in June first week in July, and we plan on taking all of the above plus camping gear for the Parkway. Have a safe trip RD.
Made the trip 2 years ago over July 4th week. Rented a cabin in the mountains of NC. Got up in the morning to find it 50*F. IN JULY. Cold for me coming from Fla. All I had was rain gear and it was used as it rained most of the day.
Went last year, rain gear and leathers both were used during the trip, once wore them together as it was a cold rain. Also we packed everything in plastic bags (one gallon ziplok work great - also had "travel space bags") helps to keep everything dry and organized.
Curious...What about August ?. Would somebody need leather jacket and chaps ?. Others either tend or always bring raingears w/o question.
I'd still bring them. Highest point on the parkway is 6000 ft, and the weather can change so fast from one side of the mountain to another. Depends on what you are used to I guess. When we visited my brother who lives in SC last year and road the parkway, they were freezing up in the mountains, while my wife and I were like, it's sorta like our summer in Maine!
