Default Oil Temp

Riding around here yesterday it was 95*. What "should" my oil temp be? I have 300miles on the bike. I have the PC V from Jamie, SE air cleaner and Rush 2.25. Im going to switch to Amsoil after around 1000 miles. My temp on the LCD dipstick was 256*
Please correct me if Im wrong, BUT I believe I read somewhere that you MUST have the 1000 mile service done by a HD dealer to honor your warranty in the future. I think I remember reading it in a warranty book.
I would just give them the Amsoil but how do you really know they used your oil in your bike?

Was cool enough when the dealer did my 1,000 ( actually 600 miles ) which was a freebie as part of the sale .. Just told them to use Dino Oil and switch to Amsoil myself at 2,000 Miles If worried about heat breakdown can go with Syn 3 for one change without hurting anything ... Then do it yourself and Actually can do the 1,000 mile yourself just record every receipt and everything you do and it better look good ..

It is not necessary to have the dealer do your service. Keep your reciepts.
256 degrees is a bit high but not that bad at 95 temps. Particulary if you were rding slow just before your checked it.

I rolled back from Colonial Beach on Saturday with my 00EGC, my temp on the dash gauge was showing 240 degrees. I'm thinking with the temp at 95 that's good to go, I'm running amsoil in all 3 holes. I think the book for my bike says 210 - 230 in the norm.

I had just got off a 50mph twisty road with a lot of slowing down and speeding up.

Im just gonna take it to a dealer and avoid all the BS
Theres a dealer over in Jersey that did a first service on my old Nightrain that I was happy with. I could tell that they really did all they were supposed to do. I had aftermarket mirrors on the bike and one was a little loose when I brought it in(not noticable though) and they tightened it all the way up.

I would not give the dealer a high priced oil like AMSOIL or RP or even Mobil 1 and trust that they put it in your bike. You said it yourself ,"How do you know?" Answer is, you don't unless you wait and watch for yourself. Like someone said, have them use their oil and wait another 1,000 miles and change it yourself adding the AMSOIL at home

I also have been concerned recently about high oil temps.. My 09 Ultra's oil was changed at 1000 to Syn3 and at that time I added a LCD/Temp dipstick. Here in FL, we get very warm days even in the spring. My bike now has 3000+ miles and last weekend on a hard/all day ride, my oil was running about 265+ degrees.. Thinking the gauge might be faulty and not reading the temp accurate, I checked it with a kitchen liquid gauge and the oil gauge is correct.. should I be concerned? I still have the lower fairings on the bike ( may remove to get more air circulating) and will add a Jagg's oil cooler to it when they FINALLY get the new model for the 09's ready... Thanks for any suggestions..

Orlando FL.

I was running about 230F on Sunday running down I-81 in Virginia. I think the air temp was in the low 90s.
