Default Rinehart end caps

Can the end caps be changed-out on my Rinehart mufflers?, and if so, will that change the back pressure and/or sound/performance?

Yes they can be changed, Rinehart has a chrome cap that will not turn and it will not change the performance any.
Go easy on them Bountyhunter.

Purple .... You crack me up! I think they all do that. Not sure why though. When I ride, they are behind me and I cannot see 'em. That's a good thing I guess. How do the crome ones look? Any idea on price? I am sure that I will spend my crome allowance elsewhere though. Maybe I'll get a stuffed Barney the Dinosaur, and strap his fluffy butt to my back seat. The purple will blend well I'm sure. lol

I think that the Rinehart end caps add a lot of character, even when they turn purple.

Technically speaking, the end caps of Rinehart True Duals can be changed as has been mentioned previously.

As someone who has actually done it, rest assured it ain't easy. I purchased a new set of Rinehart TDs (which came with the black end caps) and chrome end caps. Little did I know that the black end caps were already installed in the mufflers at the factory.

Before the mufflers went on my bike, I changed out the black end caps and replaced them with the chrome. I can't begin to count how many blows with a five pound rubber mallet were necessary to get the black end caps off. The rubber mallet doesn't damage the black finish and I sold the black caps to a friend whose black end caps had turned maroon--and he and his friend beat the bejezus out of his end caps to get them off, as well, with the rubber mallet.

So, can they be changed--absolutely--but it ain't easy.

Perhaps someone can post a thread on a simpler way to remove Rinehart end caps and save some other poor guy the fatique and anxiety of beating the crap out of an expensive exhaust component.

Don't know if it's true, but I've read that if you get ahold of them they will replace the purple caps with new and improved black ones.

Yep mine turned purple after only 500 miles.Harley dealer got a set of chromes at no charge .Changed them in about 10 minutes. They look great. Remove two screws in each end .Start bike for about 2 minutes and presto they pop right out.
