I have an 07 Road King, manu date 10.06 w/ about 3,000 miles on it. The only mods that I have done was the air cleaner and the pipes. I installed Rush pipes and had a dealer remap for me.
This has happened to me a few times and I was hoping to see if any of you have had this happen to you or know someone that this has happened to. After riding for a few miles I notice that when throttling down to approach a light or anything the engine starts to stall out. After I turn off the ignition switch and restart the bike it runs fine for awhile. Then it does it again. When it first happened, I thought it was the gas, but that doesn't seem to be the issue.
Anyway, before I go and spend money on some HD fup and drop her off at a dealership, I was hoping that maybe someone could help out. This is my third HD, I have had a 1200 Custom, a Fat Boy and no this ride. I have never had this type of issue.
Let your ECM get used to your new settings. These bikes are funny. I had same prob. I have Rush 2.0 and Fuekpak and SEAC. Don't worry. Run the "Dog ****" out of it!
This mirrors another thread of modified efi Harleys I read on another forum. Their solution was to turn the key on, do NOT give it gas by turning the throttle, then start the bike. Let it idle for 15 minutes (don't touch the throttle!), and the ecu I believe 'reads' and resets itself to the new improvements, as mentioned in the above post. You may have to do this each time, I dunno, until you can get a more permanent answer.
I think that idling for 15 minutes may be a bit too long and can actually cause overheating without airflow. Three to four minutes should be ample warmup.
The map is fairly static. Its not like its a PCV or a Thundermax Autotune. It pretty much should run without much of "getting used to the environment" unless you changes several thousand feet in sea level or 40 +- degrees in temp. I would take it back to the stealer that remapped your ecm and have them fix it or get a module that will do a better job of "learning" your mods and evniro.
There should be a code logged on your bike telling us what the problem is. When you turn your ignition key on what happens ? does a light in the gauge stay on after start up.
My 2007 Low Rider was doing the same thing recently. The dealer replaced the intake manifold seal under warranty to correct it.

Since you say you added air cleaner, pipes and dealer map....I'd bet that the problem is the map.
Chances are it's running too lean on the low end throttle position.
You mention dealer map....
Did you add a power commander? Or did they remap the original ECI?
My bike just started doing this occassionally eve since I installed a new PCV last week. Since the istall my idle does seem a bit lower. It has stalled 3 or 4 times when dropping to idle from high rpms. It seems to be doing it more infrequently as time goes on and for now I just hoping it quit doing it after a while. Maybe its just my imagination but the bike seems to adapt to the PCV over time. My exhuast popping did not immediately go away but seems to be getting progressively less and less as time goes on. I probably have 75 miles on it now since the PCV was installed.
