I rode a friends '95 Eglide w/sidecar and it had all the power it needed. It went as fast as I (and he) ever wanted to go with a sidecar. They take some serious attention to drive and gobs of horsepower is the wrong way to go if you don't have much sidecar experience. Try your outfit with the 80 incher and see how it goes. There are 88" kits for Evo's (got one in mine - S&S) that'll probably give as much power as you'll ever want or need.

I agree...build the motor with a 88 kit and you should have plenty of power........I am not sure i would do a complete swap.

My 95 Ultra ( Andrews EV27 cam, True Duals, Screaming Eagle slip ons and Screaming eagle A/C) pulls a Hannigan sidecar just fine. It's the Astro 2+2 version and is fairly heavy. MPG goes down to about 35 mpg. The extra space is very nice though. It takes some getting used to with the biggest thing tired shoulders and arms from pushing and pulling the bars to make it turn. Oh yeah, left hand turns are great, right handers require some thought unless you want to fly the hack wheel.

Add the sidecar and ride it, see how it performs for YOU and then YOU can make a decision whether you need more power. I bet you will be fine with it, so what if you use 4th gear more. save your money till YOU decide you need more power.
My dad had a 75 FLH with a sidecar and he rode the heck out of it no engine mods at all and that was a shovelhead motor

i'll give more info. bike has only 43,000 miles on it as i only ride it when wife wants to go,otherwise i use my 67 flh for day to day. it's not uncommon for us to go 300 miles just doing breakfast,we're not much of "back woods riding" people, perfer highway riding.so basically what i'm after is having a bike that will take me and the wife to wherever we want to go, whether it be south carolina, florida, or west coast, and be able to do it while keeping the bike at 70-75 mph. i do like the idea of looking 4 a wrecked twin cam(thank you to whoever posted that)but i also like the idea of jumping to 88 inches,or just doing head work etc. idea are deeply appreciared. thank you
