A black pearl inner fairing will be a terrible choice IMO since it looks kind of muddy and gray except in direct sunlight.
To help you decide, put a black pearl side cover up against your bike to get an idea of what it would look like.
lkro has a great idea and cost effective. Talk to a good auto painter about vivid black with silver and/or blue flake in it. Color matching an inner fairing on a SG creates too much of the same painted color IMO. It will look better than the stock flat black, but in time it gets boring; again, IMO.
It's your bike, your cash, and your opinion is the only one that counts--get what pleases you.
I considered that option, but with the Denim Pewter vs the pearl, I went with the matched denim inner fairing. I'll have black PYO bars and RSD contrast cut grips all added at the same time. The vivid black does look good on the bike above though!
If i was gonna do black id scuff the finish thats on your inner fairing and shoot just plain black then id clear it with a flat clear... I almost wish id have done mine that way as the color is off just a tad and im too picky ... The crap that H/D has on the stock fairings is just that... crap... Dont clean worth a sh*t and marks too easy thats why id do the black and flat clear..
I was gonna put vivid black lowers on my bl cherry sg & asked the same question here - after reading many responses i got color matched & glad i did - they look like they came with the bike & not like someone elses takeoffs - with that said - all that matters is what makes you happy
