I purchased a used 2002 ElectraGlide classic. Previous owner removed HD radio and put in aftermarket CD/radio player and spliced into the OEM radio harness that connects into the radio. Not a bad job but I purchased the OEM HD CD player and installed. Every once in awhile the radio turns off and back on. Happens really quick. It has to be the power wire because the entire display shuts off. I tried checking all connections, but they seem ok to me but apparently not if the radio is acting up.
1. Any ideas?
2. Is it possible to replace the wiring harness?
3. Does anyone know where the harness connects to at the other end? At the battery, fuse box?
4. Any wiring diagrams out their to help.
Ok, Any help or suggestions would be great. I had to dealers look at it and of course they couldnt reproduce the problem and said the radio is working fine. And they were no help. Frustrating!
Make sure that if they spliced into the harness that were they originally spliced the wire that it is not broken or close to breakin. I have seen that before were the wire was broken and sometimes with vibration can cause it to quickly turn on and off. Its a possibilty.
I have an 09 and this just started happening to me. it is the original HK stereo. It shuts off for about three seconds and my volt meter goes from 14 to 12 then back up and then the stereo comes back on. It doesnt affect the bike at all.
