I was riding home yesterday when a 85 yr. old man made a right turn, crossing 3 lanes and cut me off while I was making a left turn. This was only 30 ft. from the corner! The wild thing is he had no clue that he cut me off and forced me to lay the bike down. Looks like he hit the right foot peg because when I rode home it was further out and I couldn't reach it. But he just kept riding along his merry way. Fortunately, a cop was making a left turn as well and after he asked me how I was he took off after him and got him. But one important note is that after all the bad things said about cagers, cops and bikers etc. there were a lot of cagers and an army of cops, paramedics, and fireman that stopped, offered help and actually one woman offered to be a witness. Oh and one more thing if it wasn't for the helmet that I had on I probably wouldn't be writing this. I'm fine with some minor cuts and bruises but more importantly my RKC came true with just some skuffs on the crash bars and sanded off about an inch of metal on the bottom of the primary housing. What a ride! And please be safe out there cause they don't have a clue that you're there!
Good thing your safe buddy, Most people do the right thing in situations like that. Glad to hear the cop caught up to the old man. I truely think they should inforce making the elderly re apply for licenses after a certain age. This way it gets all the old terrible drivers off the streets.
I was waiting for a light at an intersection yesterday and started through when it turned green. A cager making a right on red looked right at me and still pulled out. I was anticipating so not too close a call but I let him have it with the horn and my finger!
Thats what happened to me. I saw him coming but thought that he wouldn't go past the 2nd lane - he made it all the way to the 3rd with me in it. But it was right out of the gate! Within 20-30 ft. from the corner. So, I slammed the brakes, the bike turned to the left and he just grazed the footpeg forcing me down. I slid about 20 ft. the bike slid about 40. This all happened in less than a second!
