I am having a problem with my bike missing at times and stalling once in a while. I have a stock 02 RK, stage one, pclll and fuel injected.
I have to confess that I am not a wrench. That I usually took it to the dealer for maintenance. Like a lot of other folks, times have been hard around our house so dealer repairs are not in the picture.
Can I get by with just replacing the plugs on her? The wires look good as I don't see any cracks on them.
Try replacing the plugs and put a new set of wires on, but it may be the injectors. Instead of the dealer try an indy shop they are better priced then the dealer sometimes. Good luck.
+1 on the indy, ask around for others independent wrenches. They will give honest fair priced work unlike some places we know
As for the timing, it is done by three sensors in different locations of the motor to maximize performance. In my experience my timing has been thrown off by one of these sensors malfunctioning. If youre not a mechanically inclined guy, pay the dough.
+1 on the sensors. They are basically magnets that work off a lobe in the engine or tranny. Metal dust can accumulate on them and block the signal( I've seen it happen to the speed sensor). Most times you can take them out and clean them and the problem is solved. If that doesn't work, try adding injector cleaner to your gas or like NJDIVER said new plugs. These are things that don't cost alot of money and the indy will try them first anyway
