I can't believe you some of you are basically scolding him for the way he put them back on. The bootom line is this, he bought a product that was designed to be attached to something. Obviously, the manufacturer feels their crappy tape is good enough....the big thing is, they shouldn't have fallen off in the first place!!!! I hate it when people buy things from places and settle for the fact that you have to modify them to work, especially when they are purchased without intending on having to do so. If someone sells a product designed to do a certain thing, then by god, it should work that way. I have seen this in the bike, car, hell even the gun world.....
They Should make them so they stick. They should of gave you a new set. F**K EM Now you posted here I'll Remember there name how they do buisness. Im to Old for BS. Thanks or the heads up. Lucky there piece of **** grills diden't scratch your bike or cause you to wreck. When they fell off at 65mph
Hey all, as most of us like to do on this forum, just wanted to share my recent run-in with Drag Specialities.
Jan 01-2009 I ordered the Chrom Speaker Trim Rings. These are a Drag Specialities product. Well needless to say that wont stay stuck the the bike. They have fallen off several time most recently while going down the highway at highway speeds. Needless to say this is not the first time that they have fallen off, although they were never damaged. But of course this time they were since I was doing roughly 80mph when they fell off. Anyway I emailed Drag Specialities and was told that this is a common problem with them and that I should reapply them with a different type of glue to hold them on. I asked the rep if he would be willing to replace them since they are now scratched up and dont really look good on my bike and not to mention they cost me roughly 75 bucks. He replied back with a simple no we will not replace them. So then I was pissed and called Drag Specialities directly, and these people on the phone were even worse then the man I was emailing back and forth with. I wasnt sure at this point where I had gotten them from as I didnt have my receipts in front of me, and the woman on the phone told me that there is no way you ordered those from us we dont deal with people off the street we only deal with dealers and others wholesalers. I again informed her of my problem and she stated that she wouldnt be able to do anything for me and that I was more or less S.O.L. Well needless to say this made me even hotter and I wasnt sure which angle to do on this one... but I found my receipt and called the company that ordered these from (Chrome World) and they are willing to replace them. So at least the story ends good, but I tell you I think this is my last purchase with the Drag Specialities name on it... those guys are jags and have no customer service skills..... just my .02
ride safe, and make sure you double stick taped items are secured because Drag Specialities wont take care of you when their BS double stick tape doesnt stick!

I'm not defending DS apparently using bad glue or tape or whatever they provided to stick them in place. Obviously it is a bad product. But, since they don't sell to individuals, and since you didn't buy them from DS, you really have to go back to the company you bought them from to make them right, which is exactly what you finally did. I'm glad to hear that your rings were replaced by Chrome World. In reality, it's possible DS then honored the returned items by Chrome World, but we'll never know. To me that's different from buying an item from Arlan Ness, like I did, and having it fail, like it did, and having AN refuse to replace the part. Now to me, that's bad customer service. I'm just saying . . . .
I told the guy that I spoke with at DS that I was a member here and that I would be reporting back to my fellow board members and he really didn't seem to care..... he then of course told me that he installed these same trim rings on his bike some 8 years ago and they are still on his bike and have never fallen off... I simply replied thats great and I'm sure if they were to fall off you could go back to a warehouse somewhere and grab a new set. This was my first purchase of a DS product and I was against it from the start, due to the fact that I'm not sure how a company SELLS there parts catalog and people still buy it and still buy product from them. This was the last item that I buy from DS and I was sure to tell the gentleman that when I spoke with him. If anyone else has a product they would like to share their feelings with here is the mans name, Mike Cain. He is easily reached through email, and I was told when I called DS directly that he is a rep for them and deals with a lot of the warranty stuff and most of their dealers. Well, thats great, I truly wanted to speak with someone in a higher position that him and make sure that they are aware of what this idiot is telling customers and that he is one customer at a time eliminating their fan base.
As far as reapplying them with something else other than their BS double stick tape, ok fine I'm guilty of that, but if it dont work, then you must fix the problem. And if you think that the fact they fell off a few times and I reapplied them with new double stick tape and now this is my problem, (not to offend you) but that means that you are on the same side at DS. If you sell a product at least stand behind it for the length of the warranty which I was told by Chrome World was 1 year. I have had these trim rings since Jan 09. I dont think I'm asking too much! If they were to damage my bike, then what should I do, just suck it up and have my inner fairing repainted because I'm a nice guy? NO F'n way! Screw DS and I will shout from the roof tops that this company blows! So dont say I didn't warn you!
Drag Speacialties is a segament of Parts Unlimited and they dont sell to the public only to dealers so having the dealer you purchased them from was the first place you should have gone glad to hear they did the right thing as for ds they are just another catalog
