I don't know your riding habits - I wear full gear 99% of the time... When I needed my rain gear it was always a PIB to get out and put on, then my boots would get soaked... SOOOOOOOOOOO, I bought a pair of over pants from RoadGrear that were water proof and boots from 5.11 that were water proof then got a nice HD rain jacket,,, anyone will work fine... if it looked like rain, all I had to do was pull out the jacket and all was fine, when rain stops,, take off jacket and put it away... Now, thats me... other will have differnt answeres... if you get caught in a RAIN, make sure your boots are protected... nothing worse than wet boots for days....
BTW, see you are in Key West... we Drove to Miami in Feb then rented and rode to your area... great ride... Love stopping at "Robbies" and feeding the Tarpin... And really enjoy sloppy Joes.. could not get the wife to go up to the garden of eden...lol
HD Gore-Tex Rain Suit. Kinda pricey but the best $$$ I ever spent on protective gear. Keeps you absolutely dry in weather you don't belong out riding in Very comfortable too.
If ya got a bagger and your going to ride for years, HD sells some very good rain suits. costly yea but will last a decade with alittle care.
But I'm going against the grain, ride to where you can get out of the rain. a local bar or resturangt a car wash a barn and stop. take a nap let the rain pass and then take off again.
think about it, there are more cages accidents in rain so do you really want to get out there with them?? espicelly on roads you dont know?? I've rode half days in the rain before. several times over several decades of ridein but I dont anymore. Im not in that big of a hurry and nothings that important that I HAVE to press on. it's crappy nastyy rideing and most dangerous so I find other entertainment. take a couple magizines and wait it out. this time of year most rains are passed in an hour or two.
good luck man and enjoy!!
