what kind of oil pressure should I be reading at an idle 05 rg

Warm at idle my needle barely registers. These are not high pressure machines.

You are OK until the oil light comes on.

thanks, never had an oil pressure gauge on any of my previous bikes and the low pressure reading had me worried, only had this bike a couple of weeks

I agree, I just got my bagger together with a used engine out of an 06 Ultra, I noticed that when it gets hot the oil pressure gauge reads very low..

Default my 06 EGC
used to read low at idle and about 20 psi at 3000 rpm. it's warm here and I started running SAE 60 and oil reads 8-10 at idle and 28-32 at 3000. the lifter noise is all but gone, I mean quiet man. and I love it. quiet = less friction = engine last longer

HDSAE60....finally someone else knows what wt. of oil should be run in these bikes...I just rolled over 30000 miles on my 06 Ultra and all is quiet and running well on Valvoline 60 wt racing oil....

I put a Baisley oil pressure spring in mine and pressure cold is 60 psi. Warm around 8 to 10 lbs at idle and 30 psi at 2500 rpm's. Amsoil 20-50 motorcycle oil. It eliminated almpsst all valve train noise. Sorry I left the "s" out of Baisley. You can google them up and they are near Portland Oregon. see sig,.
