This topic may have been beaten to death already, who knows. I am looking at getting a SG, I don't think I want the 06, with the 88 ci and 5sp. since I already have that combination in my 2k FXST standard. I see the differences in the 07 and 08 are the better brakes and larger tank? Also throttle by wire started in 08? Is that correct? WHAT would some of you consider a "GREAT" deal on a "Duracell" SG with only 4k miles on it. Bone stock with Cruise I believe is all. Please give me serious answers, I know it is "Up to me" in the long run. But with the deals on NEW ones nowadays what do most of you consider the breaking point on NEW vs Used?
I just traded my 08 Street Glide for an 09 Street Glide and couldn't be happier. Well I could I guess, if Hedi Klum was riding on the back. But other than that, it was well worth my time and money.
My thought is that there is not much difference between 08 and 09. I mounted the two and I have not noticed much difference.
In addition, the 08 weighs 23 kg less than the 09 and although less strong, is less heavy.
FLH One of the 60 had the rear end and I like to respect tradition.
Sorry, it's just my thought.
Im not gonna say the 08 and 07 are crap compared to the 09 frame and upgrades etc. Heres are real life experience for you. I bought an 08 Crimson red SG last year and had to get rid of it 5 weeks and 1100 miles into ownership. I got a 99 Classic Glide after that cause its what i could afford at the time. 1 week ago today I trade the 99 and bought an 09 FLHt standard. WELL WORTH THE MONEY. You'll be set for years to come with this current set up. I definetly recall the headshake on My 08 SG and it was VERY disappointing. Gone on the 09 and Ive logged 400 miles already and Im still in the getting to know you stage but can feel a vast improvement. I also seem to be getting much more use out of this 6th gear set up than the 08. I think the rear pulley is different but the trans is the same. Handling is the best HD ever put out to date on a Touring bike. Fork rates are firm and you can throw this bike around like no ones business yet it feels lighter than past Hd Touring bikes I ve had. I think you can this set up for 9 or 10 years before you'd be "out of date" if you know what I mean. Oh rear tire, finally looks like the right size for the bike. Thats years overdue for sure. My God that should've been given to us in the 90's.
