Its a very sinceless way to go. It was really poor judgement on the rider doing the U-turn and poor judgement on the riders who didn't look far enough down the road to spot an idiot making that U-turn on a expressway. Fellow riders please ride safe.

It's even a bigger shame that a careless biker caused the whole incident.

As long as we are sharing the roads with other Humans,we can count on a lot of them being human and making mistakes,or doing stupid things.A biker just has to be a little more aware of what is going on around themselves.Bottom Line!!!

As dredy said it's a senseless way to go. An accident can happen to anyone, and anyone can make a bone head move. I would be interested to see how long the kid that caused the accident has been in the saddle. It seems to me that way to many people decide they want to ride so they go out and buy a bike, but take no riding class or any type of training before hitting the road. A guy just died in my area this weekend while riding out in the country, him and another car met at an intersection. I have to wonder how much of that was the riders fault for not paying attention to his surroundings? Sure, we all have to watch out for cages, but an inexperienced rider is more dangerous than an experienced rider especially one that has had no training.

and the stupid young punk that took out 3 peoples lives by doing something so stupid just gets...Aaron Brown, 28, of Olympia Fields, the driver of the bike that made the U-turn, was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and for disregarding a traffic sign. why not vehicular homicide??

crash in a car, airbags and other safety items help. much less chance of death than a motorcycle in a similar accident. crash on a bike and likely die. pays to keep ones head out of their ***.

I have to agree with Road Ranger Most of these senseless accidents happen when someone fails to see what's going on around them. One thing I noticed when I ride is my senses are on a heightened level of awareness. I notice stuff around me that I normally don't see or hear when I am in my cage. I think the three that were killed when the other bonehead made the illegal U-turn where probably looking back and forth at each other bulls***in' (not looking far enough down the road) and failed to see him making the turn......and you know the rest of the story.

It's all about what we call in the military as "situational awareness" We have to remain vigilant, we have to not let the fun and excitement of the moment blurr our awareness of what's goung on around us or down the road!

I just talk to a guy who had something like this happen to him and his buddy going to Sturgus. Two bikers were sitting on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere just decided to do a U-turn. He said they were about a half mile behind the first group when they pulled over. By the time he and his buddy caught up to that group, one biker just pulled out without looking to make a U-turn. Took out the buddy of the guy I was talking to and broke his hip. Got a new bike out of the deal, but took a long time to heal. They were the only traffic for miles around and had to wait 20 for the nearest ambulance. They ask the guy why he just decided to do the U-turn without looking. No real explination, but his buddy said they had been riding about three days, 12 hours a day and thinks maybe it was fatigue.
