i have read alot about the dunlop e-3's. Its time to replace my tires and want to know if the e-3 is that much better than the 402's. does anyone know about how many miles i can expect out of the rear e-3. currently on my 402's i get anywhere from 11,000 mi to 13000 mi. with some tread left.
I believe everyones results are slightly different, based on your riding and the locale you ride in....but I can tell you from my experience that the E3's seem to last significantly longer and handle much better than the 402's....
I have an 07 ultra and got 10K from the 402 and 15K from the E3 (florida and attached state roads. all states roads are made different.) and they handle much better all the way around. You do not fill the grooves in the road with the E3.
To say they handle "better" may be misleading, but they do handle "differently". The E3's won't wander on metal bridges, in rain grooves or while crossing the gaps that exist between lanes on asphalt roads. As far as I can tell, they aren't going to handle any "better" in gravel, sand, mud, wet leaves or at too high of a speed in the rain than any other tire, but it's really all only my opinion. Friends that have been using E3's for several tire changes now claim 20K plus out of the rears. In any event, thru places like Dennis Kirk, they are basically dollar for dollar the same price as stock tires. Try a set for yourself. At least they won't be any worse than the 402's.

Got me I live on a dirt road which right now is mud and it handles like a street tire. SUCKS in the mud
Ok I know the 160 Rear will work on the 07 bikes. What is a good size for the front if I change to 18 in wheel the size is showing a 3.0 rim is this ok on a 3.5 rim?

I love the extra life and indeed they don't follow grooves and they do handle bridge grating real well but I wish they were available with skinny (or maybe even wide) white walls .

thanks, i am going to give them a try. i also wish they wern't blackwalls, but for the price it sounds like they will be more economical as well as giving a better ride.
Yes they handle better on dry pavement. Turning is quicker with a better sense of stability, plus less groove tracking. Can't say enough good things about my E3's. Significantly better than the 402's.
