Default Key fob battery???

question, i'm thinking that the fobs have a battery, a watch type. if so, then when time comes and you need to replace the battery do you also have to marry the fob to the bike? or is that a dealer only classified information thing?

The process for marrying the fob to the bike is right in your owners manual, it's a very simply process.

But if you are just replacing the battery, there is no need to re-do the process. Just put the new battery in and off you go.

I don't know how long they last, but for $2 I put a new one in every June 1st, and toss the old one in a baggie in the bottom of the saddlebag. I've fished that bag out more than once already for guys whose fob died. The CR2032 is a VERY common battery for a lot of stuff.

Just changed mine for the first time, that's 4 1/2 almost 5 years. I've noticed lately that I had to be right beside my bike in order to arm or disarm the security system. Super easy to change, open up the fob, pop in a new battery and close it up...Done.

Both my FOB's with original batteries are going strong. I carry a spare battery in my saddlebag for the day when they croak.

I had the security added yesterday, Dealer said to change the battery in the fob every 12 months. Said because they are constently sending a pulse signal. They also said wal-mart sells them.
